Joe came to the states in 1960 from Sicily at age 19. He quickly found work and a few years later began delivering beer for his cousins at Custer Beer. Meanwhile, Joann was also busy working in Ida at a small market. In 1965 it was at this market where Joe & Joann met. They married in 1969. In the following years, they added four sons to their family: Salvatore, Giuseppe, Procopio, and Antonio.
With both of them having experiences in business, it was only natural that they would open one of their own. The Villa Party Store was opened in 1979 on the corner of S. Dixie Hwy & Albain Rd in Monroe Township. Opening a new business and raising four boys at the same time did not leave much family time so it was not unusual to see the whole family at the store, even on holidays. The store filled a void in the south end of Monroe and was very successful. It was known, not only for the deli subs, excellent service, but for the friendly, welcoming attitude of the owners. No one was a stranger for long!
After 21 years at the party store, Joe’s dream of opening a pizzeria was realized. In 2003, Giuseppe’s Pizzeria opened on Telegraph Road. The pizzeria continued with the same friendly atmosphere that has made both the Cusumanos’ businesses such a success. To this day, you will see Joe hand rolling his pizza dough and Joann busily talking with all the customers.
Giuseppe’s Pizza uses nothing but simple, fresh, high quality ingredients. From our hand rolled pizza dough, sliced deli meats, to our Mozzarella Cheese Blend, our quality ingredients have always been a priority – just don’t ask Joe for his recipes!
We greatly appreciate our loyal customer base and look forward to continuous service for years to come!
